THE HISTORY OF HTAi
HTAi was founded in 2003, in Canmore, Alberta, Canada, where the first Annual Meeting took place. In the years since, we’ve grown our member base by promoting HTA learning globally through Annual Meetings, Policy Forums and ten Interest Groups. Before HTAi was founded, the International Society of Technology Assessment in Health Care (ISTAHC) was established in 1984, and later dissolved in the early 2000s.
HTAi is currently governed by an elected International Board of Directors that is supported by an Executive Committee, several Advisory Committees, Working Groups and a Secretariat.
There are three Policy forums: the Global Policy Forum was the first Policy Forum to be established in 2007, the Asia Policy Forum was the second Policy Forum to be established in 2013, and the Latin America Policy Forum was the third Policy Forum to be established in 2016. These forums provide unique opportunities for senior global representatives in the field of HTA to have strategic discussions around the present state of HTA and its development.
